It's as easy as pressing your keys on the keyboard! In the Practice menu, there will be provided sample text. All you have to do is click it and type! Once you've completed your first test, your results will be displayed at the top. As you complete more tests, the results at the top will show you how you've improved.
If you want to change settings, you can do so with the settings button on the practice menu.
If you would like to submit a passage, you can do so in the future. Currently the feature is in developement.
After each test, your results will sent to a database and analyzed. Currently, I am still in the process of setting up FuanaDB to actually store those results, but in the meantime, you can see the Speed, Accuracy, and Score of your previous test to see how the differences in speed. The way these values are calculated are as follows:
Speed is calculated in Words Per Minute. The average word length in English is about four letters with every word having a space in between. Scoring a higher speed is ultimately the goal, but you can't have speed without accuracy!
Accuracy is calculated based on the amount of characters correctly typed. Typing several characters incorrectly will lower your accuracy. You are only penalized up to once per letter.
You will gain points for every letter typed in correctly on the first try. Letters you miss will not be counted against you. Currently speed does not affect score, but that will change in the future.
